livejournal archives
The best place to go if you're looking for frequent updates is my
livejournal. Unfortunately, livejournal's archiving capabilities
are quite limited: while the memories
page is useful, I found that it grew difficult to navigate as the
number of entries in my journal approached one thousand. Livejournal's
calendar
function works well, but is similarly unwieldy, particularly since
my weblog now spans five different calendar years.
I've created these using these archives pages with movable type and will be using them not as a mirror of my livejournal, but as a place to store easily-browsable backups of selected public posts. Each entry will include a link to the original post and any comments on that post. However, I'll keep the movable type comment function enabled, because there really isn't any reason not to, and because livejournal's comment feature isn't particularly user-friendly for non-livejournalers.
Really, though, none of this is that complicated. I just wanted to be able to find my old stuff.
