Project #1
Due Date:
Monday, February 14, 5:00 pm

Your first assignment asks you to produce a web-based critical essay that, in hard-copy, would be 4-5 pages, double-spaced.  This essay should make a reasonably sophisticated, fully-elaborated argument about one of the authors with whom we’re dealing this semester.  This argument should largely be supported by a detailed, careful presentation of the textual evidence.

However, rather than simply turning in a standard critical paper, you must find some way to turn this paper into a web project.  This means more than simply posting the paper online.  You and your partner must consider what the web as a mode of delivery adds to your paper, and what it detracts.  How does the experience of reading your paper change once it’s online?  How can you best take advantage of what the web has to offer?

Your essay must follow appropriate MLA citation guidelines, must conform to the length requirements above, and must — MUST — be carefully proofread.  Essays whose meanings are obscured by a plethora of typographical or spelling or technical errors will not be read, and will incur late penalties until resubmitted.
